Robert Stakenborghs, MSME, PE Level III Microwave NDT Specialist
Bob Stakenborghs is a Level III Microwave NDT Specialist. Microwave nondestructive testing (NDT) gives companies the ability to scan solid or opaque materials to detect discontinuities and defects without having to destroy the materials to inspect them, saving companies time and money. This particular technology is especially good for composite materials such as fiberglass, plastics, and ceramics and has been tested across a wide variety of materials.
Bob has developed his microwave NDT system into three specific scanners:

Bob has developed his microwave NDT system into three specific scanners:
- The motorized portable scanner is easily portable and can be used on things like wind turbine blades 350 feet up in the air, without having to remove the blades.
- The pipe scanner attaches around the circumference of the pipe, for example an HDPE water main, and creates a 360 degree view of the materials and joints.
- The inspection antenna is the smallest. This tabletop scanner can be programmed to conduct a specific inspection pattern.
