Bcomp and Tras Develop Natural Fiber Composite Bodywork for Suzuki Motor Corp.’s Factory Race Team
Sustainable materials pioneer Bcomp has teamed up with Japanese composite specialist Tras to deliver full natural fiber composite bodywork for Suzuki Motor Corp.’s factory race team, Team SUZUKI CN CHALLENGE. The 2025 GSX-R1000R will debut at the Suzuka 8 Hours featuring fenders and fairings built entirely from Bcomp’s ampliTex fabrics and powerRibs reinforcement structures.
Tras, a trusted Suzuki motorsport partner for over two decades, first introduced Bcomp technologies through prototype parts for the ECSTAR MotoGP team. That successful demonstration has since evolved into race-ready bodywork, field-tested in the Experimental class of the FIM Endurance World Championship.
Bcomp’s ampliTex and powerRibs harness the strength of flax fibers to deliver lightweight components with exceptional stiffness, damping, and sustainability benefits. Compared to traditional carbon fiber, they achieve up to 85% lower cradle-to-gate CO₂ emissions and offer viable end-of-life solutions, making them a proven, greener alternative across motorsport, automotive, and transportation industries.
The initiative aligns with Team SUZUKI’s Carbon Neutral mission. Alongside natural fiber composites, the 2025 GSX-R1000R will race with 100% sustainable fuel, recycled-content tires, bio-sourced engine oil, and an eco-friendly titanium muffler. According to Suzuki Motorsports chief Shinichi Sahara, embracing ampliTex’s natural finish demonstrates sustainability in action while delivering performance.
For Tras and Bcomp, the project marks a breakthrough. Masanao Nitta of Tras emphasized ampliTex’s resilience under demanding manufacturing conditions, while Bcomp’s Ken Kruck highlighted Suzuka 8 Hours as “the ultimate proof point” that top-level performance and sustainability can thrive together.
